Piece of technology?

Well, mulling over technology, I think technology means everything created by the man. From this point of view my favorite piece of technology is the sandwich  maker.
Despite I like a lot this miracle of cooking,I have never had one. Moreover, 2 years ago I didn't know about it.

I remember our first meeting: I was in a friend´s house and we wanted to eat something. And she said "My mother bought this machine, do you want to do some sandwiches?". I answered yes and we went to kitchen.
And then, I saw it, a beautiful piece of metal with a short wire. I belive I wondered how this machine could do better the food. We made a pair of sandwiches, connected the machine(on second thought, maybe we put bread before) and finally we put our food in the sandwich maker.

The best part of using it is the sound and the nice smell that fills the kitchen(the toating bread is wonderful), and not to mention how easy it is to use.

For obvious reasons, I can´t use it much (I don´t have one in my house and it´s too expesive for me), but I really love it.
In fact, even though I knew about similar devices, I didn´t know how tastier and better could be a sandwich.

Why did I choose my career?

When I was a little child (aeons before Charlie was created), I had an obsession with animals, when I talk about animals I mean big animals like lions, pumas, bears and tigers (I didn´t like cute and fluffy animals, but I remember I loved dogs) and I was dreamed being a wildlife filmmaker. I think that I wanted this, because I used to watch a reality show about what wildlife filmakers do and a lot of programs about wildlife. Also I thought in being a writer (however I did more for being a poet).

I
always felt connected to letters, to tell stories, but also to analyse and think things.
When I started 8th grade, I decided to study psycology, and I focused that. But with the time, thinking and studying about history, about letters, about mystical things (very weird things) fed me up. I DIDN´T WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HUMANISTIC STUFF.

That's why I began to study science, mainly chemistry. Every time when I went to the lab, read about it, listen about it, I feel more and more fascinated. This is the moment when my mind illuminated me:

"You need to learn about the world, about all, not only chemistry. You don´t want to do  the same thing your entire life. And the more important thing, you want to know, not only be something."

I started to look for a career that give me a flexible and dynamic job (I didn´t want do the
same thing everyday) and where you need to know a lot. I considered studying  anthropology, but I wished to separate myself from history (well, just a little). Also I liked biology a lot. This 3 things lead me to study biochemistry, and to start this "little journey".
HARD JOURNEY ( people say me I´m a hobbit)

Finally I end up in the university, and this life is another long  journey with changes and challenges: travel everyday more than 1 hour to go to university, look for a place to study, meet too many people from regions, seek attack strategies for physics and buy many, many, many teas.

In spite of I really like it, I can sleep as long as I want. IT´s an adventure  (BUT I REALLY REALLY WANT SLEEP).

And about what I want to become now, I like the idea of working at a clinical laboratory or at the Forensic Medical Service (Yeah, it´s something monotonous, but why not?).

Breaking the ice

Charlie (me) and carbs
I´m Javiera Favi Coloma, but you can call me Charlie. I´m a first child of my mom (not of my father, because he has other son of his previous marriage, that´s why I´m also the "unfortunate middle child"), and I was born on September 24th, 1997, in San Bernardo. My parents met at the airport but it was not love at first sight, in fact my mother thought he was unpleasant. They didn´t have much money, and they had many jobs.
Currently, 20 years later, they have a family with 2 sons: my little brother,Jose Ignacio, and me.

I studied in Instituto Corintio and Colegio Ingles Isaac Newton (but I didn´t learn much english).

When I moved to Colegio Ingles, in 8th grade, I started to do many things: I met my, current, close friends, my boyfriend, I cut my hair (that´s when Charlie was born, my father doesn´t like it), I started falling in love with history and psychology, and I learned how to swim.

I really love swimming, maybe more than carbohydrates (from anywhere they come they are more than welcome), and my favorite style is breaststroke.

Despite I really like psychology (kids with ASD are so amazing), history and letters, I ended up studing biochemistry (I think that I have a little weird science bug inside me), and I find everyday more and more interesting (because if I don´t do that I don´t think I would be able of being awake for so long, I´M NOT KIDDING).

Things to do(or wishes):

  • To pass General Chemistry I
  • To be able to swim in the University´s pool
  • To learn a lot of cookie recipes
  • To find time for my friends and my boyfriend
  • To be happy.
